Vision
To visualize  as a Centre of Excellence, a one stop goal for food technological invention extensive Education with societal relevance to achieve deciduous prosperity and to  create self employment leaders and entrepreneurs who will strive to work for a bright future for the state, country and the world . The course emphasizes to improve food security through , basic and applied food technologies and improve the food standards from farm to fork. The vision is to produce trained personnel of highest standards for the benefit of the industry and community in the field of Food Technology, by playing a key role in providing learning opportunity to the students in production, processing and preservation of foods and to understand methods of handling, processing and quality control for providing safe and standard food to the consumers. The Food processing lab well be equipped with different advanced food processing equipment to provide hands on experience to the students after completion the course.

Preamble
The course on B.Sc. (Hons.) Food Technology is established in 2020, as a  division of Food Technology, under the able guidance of Principal, School of Sciences Gitam University at Hyderabad campus. It aspires to develop an educational training, research, and outreach program that leads the nation in shaping the future direction of the Food science and Technology profession, while innovatively meeting the current and emerging needs of stakeholders. The department is invested in unique high impact education and research programs that apply contemporary and novel technologies in food processing, food safety and quality, and sustainability.

The B.Sc.(Hons.) Food Technology  is a three year professional degree course . It provides an opportunity to the students for scientific understanding of food based technologies and imparts skills to improve the quality of life of people .This degree programme is an appropriate stage for students to learn core courses linked to development of food science and technology courses. The College of Food Technology at GITAM, Rudraram, Hyderabad has initiated to develop fully equipped laboratories with the experienced faculty . Fully furnished Classrooms and modernized laboratories with updated instruments and equipment, sports facility and library, and many other amenities like Wi Fi offer students to explore their talents towards healthy leadership and proficiency.

Food Technology is a multidisciplinary field that prepares students with comprehensive knowledge of the biological, physical and engineering sciences to develop new food products, design innovative processing technologies, improve food quality and nutritive value, enhance the safety of foods and ensure the wholesomeness of our food supply. Food Science majors apply the principles learned in the basic sciences such as food chemistry, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, food engineering and nutrition to provide consumers with safe, wholesome and attractive food products that contribute to their health and well-being.  

This education will help in making the students capable of undertaking higher education or gainful employment in public and private sector undertakings. The course offers various job opportunities in the field of Research and Industrial sectors. National and International recognised Institutes like NIN, Hyderabad, CFTRI Mysore and Hyderabad and ICAR institutes will have multiple project openings as Research Assistant, Associates, Junior Research Fellow, Senior Research Fellow, project assistants.  Food industries like Britannia, ITC, Nestle, Parle, Priya, Dabur and many more institutes offer various openings for food technology graduates. In the Government sector, food technology graduates are eligible for State and central government openings such as food safety officer, food analyst, food microbiologist, manager and technical positions in FCI. hospitals and private sectors like Google, VLCC and other NGO’s offers Food Technology graduates as Nutritionist, food technologist positions in their companies.
